Begs-In-Wilds

Begs-In-Wilds is an Argonian beggar who can be found on the roads of Tamriel during the Zeal of Zenithar event.

Dialogue[edit]

When you approach him, he'll say one of several things:

Begs-In-Wilds: "My stomach growls and claws at itself. I've not eaten in a long time."
Begs-In-Wilds: "Sounds. Footsteps. Wind blowing past. A traveler! Praise the sun in this cloudless day!"
Begs-In-Wilds: "As sure as beetles crawl on the ground, one of the blessed ones must have sent you!"

When you talk to him for the first time, he'll say:

"You have a good heart. The few travelers who walk down this road pretend not to notice my muddy scales."
If there are few travelers here, why don't you find a busier road?
"All roads are made of the same dirt. One is not more generous than another.
More travelers could lead to more travelers looking past my curved tail. Chewing rocks has more appeal."
Would a city offer you more opportunities?
"I tried cities. They did not suit me. My scales need the wind of the countryside.
So I wander. My scales are happy. My feet are tired. Only my stomach longs for more."
Here's some gold for your troubles. [0000006969 Gold]
"Thank you! I will eat well and sleep happily tonight."
You could go to the festival in Belkarth.
"I've heard of the festivals taking place. But would a festival for Zenithar be welcoming toward beggars? Or will the merchants there be generous?
Yes. I think I will try. If nothing else, I can always follow another road out of the city."
I can't give you anything, but I hope you have some luck in Belkarth.
"The suggestion to give the festival a chance was more than enough aid for me. I hope there are always beetles in the dirt under your feet."
Here's some gold. You should enjoy the festival while you're there. [0000006969 Gold]
"Thank you! I will eat well and sleep happily tonight."
I don't have gold to spare.
"Well, in that regard, we are two flowers from the same root.
Still, you did not ignore me. I hope your stomach growls quietly and that your feet encounter no stones on this road. Good day, traveler."
Are you going to attack me again?
"Attack? No! My claws are dull, see!
I've been told that one with scales like mine is threatening travelers near here. That may be why they walk by and do not hear my cries for aid."
If you're being ignored here, why don't you go somewhere else?
"All roads are made of the same dirt. One is not more generous than another.
More travelers could lead to more travelers looking past my curved tail. Chewing rocks has more appeal."
Would a city offer you more opportunities?
(see above)
I see.

If you encounter him again, he'll instead greet you with one of the following phrases:

"You pass by and once again see me here. The rivers of your heart are strong and steady.
My road, as always, is empty, but your face is familiar and that is good."
"I see we meet again. I wonder if your fortunes have changed. Mine have not. This road is as empty as always."
"I see the wind brings us together like two fallen leaves on this empty road."

If you approach Begs-In-Wilds in the wilderness instead of by the road, a Bandit Lurker and Bandit Sentinel will attack you. Begs will say one of three things when they appear:

Begs-In-Wilds: "Your generosity was your mistake today."
Begs-In-Wilds: "I'll make sure the beetles crawl over you when you lie in the dirt."
Begs-In-Wilds: "My hidden friends, make yourselves known."

After defeating the bandits, he'll run off, pleading for mercy:

Begs-In-Wilds: "Mercy! I never wanted to do this."
Begs-In-Wilds: "Don't hurt me. I'll leave you alone. I swear!"
